ZOO in Liberec

The zoological garden in Liberec is the oldest zoo in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1919 and the citizens of Liberec perceive it as an inherent part of their city. The Zoo specialises in breeding rare and endangered species of animals of which the most famous are Bengal tigers. The Zoo is located in a picturesque valley not far from the city centre accessible by a tram. We recommend to make a half-day or a day trip by train from nearby Rynoltice riding across the beautiful Christopher’s valley which will certainly make an impression (not only) on your children. Apart from about 150 species of animals with approx. 1,000 specimens accessible also to disabled visitors, the Zoo also offers e.g. demonstrations of seal feeding, a train for children and other attractions.
